The musical ‘Kimberly Akimbo,’ The Lower Lights at Kingsbury, Utah Symphony plays Vivaldi, and the Portland Cello Project puts its bows on Christmas.

‘Kimberly Akimbo’ at Eccles

The 2023 winner of the Tony for best musical, “Kimberly Akimbo” tells of a teen girl coping with regular teen things — along with a condition that makes her age rapidly and makes her look like an elderly woman. The touring production of the musical, with music by Jeanine Tesori (“Fun Home”) and lyrics and book by David Lindsay-Abaire, will arrive at the Eccles Theater, 131 S. A folk Christmas tradition

A Utah musical tradition happens Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at Kingsbury Hall, 1395 E. Presidents Circle (200 South), Salt Lake City, with the annual Christmas concerts for The Lower Lights, the gospel-folk collective. Shows are 7 p.m. each night. Tickets available at UtahPresents.org.

Utah Symphony plays ‘The Four Seasons’

One of the most enduring works in the classical canon — Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” — is the highlight of the Utah Symphony’s concerts on Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m. at Abravanel Hall, 123 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City. The symphony’s concertmaster, Madeline Adkins, is featured as soloist. Also on the program: Angel Lam’s “Please let there be a paradise…” and Glazunov’s “The Seasons.” Jessica Rivero Altarriba conducts. Tickets available at UtahSymphony.org.

Cellos for Christmas

The Portland Cello Project puts its classical-meets-pop stamp on Christmas — touring with drummer Tyrone Hendrix, trumpeter Farnell Newton and young multi-instrumentalist Maiah Wynne — for a show Saturday, starting at 8 p.m., at The State Room, 638 S.
