Runnin' Utes struggle to find rhythm in loss to Oklahoma State

Utah drops to 4-6 in Big 12 play.

Utah was defeated by Oklahoma State 81-72 on Saturday afternoon in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

The Runnin' Utes never led during the game. They cut the Cowboys' lead to seven points with 1:18 to go in the second half, but OSU drained four free throws to clinch the victory.

Junior forward Ezra Ausar led all Utah scorers with 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting. Senior guard Gabe Madsen followed with 15 points but struggled, once again, to find a rhythm from the field going 5 for 15 overall and 4 for 13 from 3-point range.

Utah’s offensive struggles were a major factor in the loss. It shot 40% from the field and 25% from beyond the arc. The Runnin' Utes were also outrebounded 33-30 by the Cowboys.

The loss now puts Utah’s Big 12 record at 4-6 and 12-9 overall.

The Runnin' Utes will return home to face Colorado at 7 p.m. MT on Wednesday.
