Utah football player apologizes for comment about BYU Cougars

Jaylon Glover took to social media to express his remorse after trash talking the Cougars on Monday.

Jaylon Glover kicked off the BYU-Utah rivalry week with bulletin board material.

On Monday evening, the Utes’ junior running back was asked about the significance of the return of the in-state rivalry. He did not mince any words.

“Excuse my language, but it’s f--- BYU,” Glover said. “I’ve never been a part of the Cold War, but I’m excited, man, and looking forward to the opportunity to be out there, to go fight and battle with the guys.

“We have to go beat them boys down south.”

Later on Monday night, Glover took to social media to express his remorse for his remarks about the Cougars.

“I wanted to apologize for the language I used during post-practice media tonight,” Glover said on his X account, the app formerly known as Twitter. “It doesn’t represent who I am or our program and was a lapse in my judgment. As a program, we respect every opponent we face and we have respect for BYU and are excited to play them Saturday.”

This season, the junior running back has been out of the lineup due to personal issues. Glover finally got back on the field in the Utes' 17-14 loss to Houston two weeks ago, finishing with four carries and 33 rushing yards.

It was his first time taking a carry in the backfield since Utah’s opening contest vs. Southern Utah on Aug. 29.
