Utah loses commitment from its highest-rated recruit in the 2025 class

Aaron Dunn, who committed to the Utes in August, announced his decision to reopen his recruitment on Thursday.

Four-star offensive tackle Aaron Dunn decommitted from Utah on Thursday morning.

Dunn, hailing from Spanish Fork High School, announced his decision on X. The move is a blow to the Utes’ 2025 recruiting class, given the 6-foot-5, 290-pound tackle was their highest-rated prospect of the cycle. Dunn is the latest in-state prospect Utah has lost out on in the 2025 class.

“After prayers and discussions with my family, I have decided to decommit from the University of Utah,” Dunn said in his post. “Thank you to coach (Jim) Harding and (Kyle) Whittingham for giving me the opportunity to play for the team.”

After being projected to land with the Utes following his de-commitment from Mississippi, Jerome Myles announced he would be joining Lincoln Riley and USC in 2025.

With Dunn’s de-commitment, Utah’s recruiting class now ranks 53rd in the nation, 10 spots below its previous spot, according to 247Sports Team Rankings.

Utah (4-2, 1-2 Big 12) is set to take on TCU (3-3, 1-2) at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday in Salt Lake City.
