Utes star Britain Covey among players with Utah ties who fell victim to NFL roster cuts

Britain Covey, Samson Nacua and Deven Thompkins are among the players who were waived Tuesday.

Utah football fans will see the Utes’ Devin Lloyd, BYU’s Tyler Allgeier and former East High standout Jaylen Warren among the rookies from the Beehive State on opening week NFL rosters.

But with Tuesday’s deadline for teams to finalize their 53-man rosters in advance of the 2022 season, a number of hopefuls who spent recent years at Utah, BYU, Utah State and other Beehive State schools were waived.

Some, like former Utes wide receiver Britain Covey, turned some heads on their respective teams and may still be added to practice squads if they can’t find NFL homes elsewhere.

Here is a list of players with Utah ties that were cut ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.
