Utah women’s basketball team beats Colorado to end two-game skid

Dasia Young hits five 3-pointers to lead the Utes to 78-67 victory.

The University of Utah women’s basketball beat Colorado 78-67 on Sunday in Boulder, Colo., snapping a two-game losing streak.

Dasia Young led the Utes (11-7, 2-4 Pac-12) with 15 points, going 5 for 6 on 3-point shots.

Peyton McFarland and Brynna Maxwell followed with 13 points each. Freshman guard Inês Vieira, making her first start, added 12 points, a game-high eight rebounds and four assists.

Mya Hollingshed scored 28 points for Colorado (14-5, 3-5 Pac-12), and Frida Formann added 12 points.

The Utes led 34-31 at halftime before outscoring the Buffaloes 26-19 in the third quarter.

“This was a total team effort today, and we needed everyone as everyone contributed, and I am proud of the team for bouncing back,” said Utah coach Lynne Roberts.

Utah returns home to host Washington at 7 p.m. Friday at the Huntsman Center.
