São Paolo • Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love exited Friday’s game in the final seconds against the Philadelphia Eagles with an apparent lower left leg injury.
The injury status of Love — who became the league’s highest-paid player this offseason after carrying the Packers to the playoffs last year — is unknown. Love left the locker room under his own power without too noticeable of a limp and didn’t speak to reporters.
When asked about Love’s injury, Packers coach Matt LaFleur didn’t offer any answers.
“I don’t know,” LaFleur said repeatedly to questions about Love’s condition.
The injury occurred with five seconds remaining as Love was under duress while trying to throw a Hail Mary. He landed awkwardly on his leg as he was brought down, where he stayed on the field writhing in pain. He was attended to and later helped off the field by team doctor Pat McKenzie and trainer Nate Weir.
After the game, Jacobs and Weir appeared to help Love off the field.
Center Josh Myers also got hurt on the same play and left the game. Green Bay’s backup quarterback Malik Willis entered the game for the final two plays, throwing an incompletion and then taking a sack as the Packers fell 34-29 in São Paulo.
Love was 17-of-34 passing for 260 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Last July, he signed a four-year, $220 million extension, becoming the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL.
