Utah State adds Oklahoma to its schedule, in exchange for a seven-figure payout

USU continues to schedule SEC teams as it builds out future non-conference slate.

Utah State football will venture back into SEC country in 2027.

The Aggies will play Oklahoma in Norman on Sept. 4, as was first reported by FBSchedules.com. A source within Utah State’s athletic department confirmed the game will take place.

The report indicated Utah State will receive a $1.5 million guarantee for playing the game.

The last time the two teams played was in 2010, when Utah State nearly upset the Sooners in their home opener before succumbing to a 31-24 defeat.

Utah State’s non-conference slate for 2027 now includes two teams from power conferences. USU is scheduled to play at Oregon on Sept. 18 of that year. The game was part of a three-game series announced in 2020.

USU will travel to Eugene twice and the Ducks are supposed to come to Logan in 2028.

With the addition of Oklahoma, USU is now set to see two SEC opponents in the next few years. The Aggies will travel to Texas A&M in 2025. USU also played Alabama in 2022.

This year, USU’s Power Four opponents include Utah and USC. The Utes are visiting Logan and the Trojans will host USU in Los Angeles.
