The Utah State men’s basketball team has added another player to next year’s roster.
The Aggies signed Max Shulga, a native of Ukraine, to a national letter of intent, the team announced Wednesday. The 17-year-old shooting guard played for his country in the 2019 FIBA Under-18 European Championship.
“We are thrilled to announce that Max Shulga will be joining the Aggie family,” USU coach Craig Smith said in a statement. “As witnessed by his numbers, Max is a versatile player that does a lot of things well on both ends of the court. He’s tough, gritty, highly skilled and has a very good feel for the game. Max has great passion and energy. When you combine that with his character, he will thrive at Utah State.”
Shulga showed out at the international tournament, averaging 13.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He shot nearly 62% from the field in the tournament and nearly 53% from the 3-point line.
Shulga is the second player USU added to its team this week. The Aggies brought in Polish center Szymon Zapala, who also played in the U18 European Championships.
