Real Salt Lake’s winless streak in Major League Soccer reached 12 games on Saturday night in Sandy with its most lopsided loss during the slump.

The Vancouver Whitecaps — the first-place team in the Western Conference — scored two goals in the game’s first 29 minutes and beat RSL 3-0.

RSL has not won an MLS game since a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids on May 16. Since then, the Utah club has suffered eight losses and four draws.

After going 5-1-1 in its first seven games, RSL now sits in 12th place with an 8-12-5 record, with nine teams in each conference reaching the postseason this year.

Vancouver, last season’s MLS Cup runner-up, improved to 15-6-4.

In the ninth minute, Vancouver’s Oliver Larraz drilled the ball into the box, and Brian White knocked it into the net with his right knee.

In the 29th minute, Thomas Müeller scored with assists from Yadaly Diaby and Édier Ocampo, after RSL left the German with too much space in the box.

Diaby scored in the game’s final goal in the 63rd minute.

RSL is scheduled to return to action Wednesday (8:30 p.m. MDT, Apple TV) at Seattle against the Sounders.
