Diego Luna scored two goals in the first half, and Real Salt Lake beat the Los Angeles Galaxy 2-0 on Saturday at America First Field in Sandy.
Luna scored in the 21st minute with assists from Alexandros Katranis and Diogo Gonçalves, and added a goal five minutes later as RSL defeated the defending Major League Soccer champions.
An All-Star midfielder, Luna now has three goals and two assists this season.
After the winning the championship last season, the Galaxy have struggled in 2025, falling to 0-5-1 with Saturday’s loss.
Real Salt Lake snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 3-4-0.
Los Angeles had a 9-7 edge in shots in the game, but RSL led had a 2-1 advantage in shots on goal.
RSL goalkeeper Rafael Cabral had one save and earned the shutout.
RSL is scheduled to return to action next Saturday at Nashville (6:30 p.m. MDT, Apple TV).
