Dallas • Just three games in, the Utah Jazz have seen their season take a dark turn.
Second-year forward Taylor Hendricks had to be taken off the court on a stretcher after suffering what appeared to be a serious leg injury on Monday night.
Hendricks was running down the court in the third quarter, when his leg simply appeared to buckle and he fell to the floor. The forward‘s right foot was visibly pointing in the wrong direction.
The Jazz said Hendricks suffered a fractured right fibula and a dislocated ankle.
Hendricks' coaches and teammates looked emotional during an extended break in the action while the medical attended to the 20-year-old.
Hendricks had impressed coaches and fans alike with his defensive commitment through the Jazz‘s early season, earning a place in the starting lineup thanks to his ability to guard the opponent’s best player. Now, though, he looks likely to miss significant time moving forward.
