These 5 ‘fan-friendly’ items will be cheaper for Utah Jazz and Hockey Club fans this season

A bottle of water that once cost $5 will now be sold for $2.

It’s not quite a dollar menu — but for those used to overpriced arena concessions, it might as well be.

The Smith Entertainment Group announced Monday that they plan to have five discount options for fans this season at the Delta Center for both Utah Jazz and Utah Hockey Club games.

In particular, Dasani water bottles will cost $2, and the arena will charge $3 each for a box of popcorn, nachos, a hot dog, or a scoop of Farr’s ice cream.

Last year, those items were priced significantly higher: water bottles were $5, a bucket of popcorn was $8.50, nachos were $5.75, hot dogs were $5.50, and Farr’s ice cream was $8.25.

“By introducing fan-favorite concessions at incredible prices, we’re showing fans that we are listening to their needs, and, there is no better time than now to take this step as more people than ever will attend games at Delta Center this season, as we prepare to host over 80 nights of sports entertainment between the Utah Jazz and Utah Hockey Club,” Chris Barney, president of revenue and commercial strategy for Smith Entertainment Group, said in a news release.

The team also provided a map of where the cheaper concessions will be available.

Don’t expect a lowering of prices across the board; other concessions will still be sold at typical arena prices. Still, making these five items cheaper will help make pro basketball and hockey games next season more affordable.
