After a long NBA regular season, it’s finally here: The NBA Playoffs. For the Utah Jazz, it starts on Saturday at 11 a.m. Mountain Time in Dallas as they take on the Mavericks.
In the regular season, the Jazz and Mavericks split the season series 2-2. The Mavs come into the playoffs winning 20 of their last 27. Meanwhile, the Jazz comes into the postseason having lost 7 of 11 games.
The big question heading into the series regards the health of Luka Doncic, who suffered a calf injury in Dallas’ regular-season finale. For the Jazz, it’s been a season of “We know what we need to do to get things right” and “We just got to get it together.”
Well, guys, it’s time to finally do just that. So what will be key for the Jazz to win the series and head to the Western Conference semis? Who will need to step up from the bench to give the Jazz an edge?
In the latest episode of The Tribune’s “How ‘Bout This Jazz” podcast, host/moderator Xoel Cardenas and Tribune Jazz beat reporters Andy Larsen and Eric Walden are joined by Jazz PA voice Dan Roberts to preview the Jazz’s first-round playoff matchup with the Mavericks.
The guys also give a short recap of the Jazz’s regular season — one that saw them regress record-wise. Other than COVID and injuries, (which most, if not all, NBA teams, dealt with this season, what are one or two things fans point to as a cause of the Jazz regressing this 2021-22 regular season? The guys give their take on it.
