‘How ‘Bout This Jazz’ podcast: Why are the Utah Jazz unable to fix their recurring issues?

Plus, who should take the final shot in close games?: Donovan Mitchell or someone more efficient?

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Tribune readers and podcast listeners! We at the HBTJ podcast are grateful for your continued support.

We’re also grateful that the Utah Jazz have won three out of their last four games. It was almost a four-game winning streak, but Utah lost a close one to Memphis on Monday night, as Donovan Mitchell’s last-second shot didn’t go in.

While losing is part of sports, for Jazz fans, the most frustrating part of it all might be that the team is losing due to the same old issues both Quin Snyder and the players have acknowledged need to be fixed.

So why can’t the Jazz fix the issues they know are costing them games?

In the latest episode of The Tribune’s “How ‘Bout This Jazz” podcast, host/moderator Xoel Cardenas and Tribune Jazz beat reporters Andy Larsen and Eric Walden discuss why the Jazz struggling to resolve their recurring issues — like transition defense and allowing opponents offensive rebounds.

The guys also talk about Mitchell, who we all know struggles with efficiency, and — as crazy as it sounds — when he should not get the ball. Andy and Eric also talk about how Rudy Gobert has been inconsistent and hasn’t played like a former NBA Defensive Player of the Year so far this season.

Lastly, inspired by Eric insinuating that Andy looks a bit like comedian Jim Gaffigan, Andy, Eric and Xoel give their take on who would play themselves if a movie was made about them.
