‘How Bout This Jazz’ podcast: Utah Jazz PA voice Dan Roberts talks career, Jerry Sloan, calling 2 NBA Finals

Roberts has been the in-arena voice of the Jazz since the team’s arrival to Utah in 1979.

Utah Jazz fans, the time has come!

We are excited to launch the revamped Tribune Jazz podcast: How Bout This Jazz.

Each week, Tribune Jazz beat reporters Andy Larsen and Eric Walden along with host/moderator Xoel Cardenas will be bringing a fun, multiple-topic podcast featuring guests, in-depth analysis, and a fresh, informative perspective on the Jazz and the NBA.

In the first episode of the revamped podcast, the trio sit down with Utah Jazz PA announcer Dan Roberts. The podcast’s name comes from the slogan he made famous, and Roberts has been the in-arena voice of the Jazz since the team’s arrival to Utah in 1979.

Roberts blessed the podcast by recording the voice introduction to the podcast. So every week, you’ll hear Dan’s iconic voice introduce each episode!

Some of the topics discussed in the conversation with Roberts include how he got into the announcing game, calling two NBA Finals, as well as his favorite Jerry Sloan memory. Roberts also talks Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, as well as the respect he has for Jazz coach Quin Snyder.
