Nate Tullis
School: Viewmont

If the 1999 movie “For Love of the Game” was adapted for the Tullis family in Bountiful, baseball bats and gloves would be swapped for tennis rackets.
Lots and lots of rackets.
As the latest installment of his family’s success at Viewmont High School, Nate Tullis is holding up his end of the bargain. His older brothers Sam (2012, ‘13, ‘14) and Jake (2015) all won Class 5A state singles titles and Nate followed suit by taking the crown as a junior last season.
Not that he was ever really pressured that much to follow in the footsteps of his older siblings.
“I loved watching my older brothers play, so I chose it. I love the game, it’s a beautiful game,” said Nate Tullis, whose older sister Elizabeth, like Sam and Jake before her, currently plays for BYU.
The current high school tennis season has just started for boys players in Utah. Tullis, who beat Alta’s Griffin Schroeder in the 5A finale last May, thinks he has improved in the months since.
“Personally, I feel like I’ve gotten better, but there’s a long way to go - there’s always room for improvement,” said Tullis, who believes that the 5A field will be just as tough as a year ago. “Really similar, actually. They’re all great guys and really good competition and I’m looking forward to playing them.”
