BYU likely to be missing 2 big names for rivalry game vs. Utah

BYU head coach Kalani Sitake said starting center Connor Pay and wideout Kody Epps likely won’t be ready to play Saturday.

BYU has been rolling with a makeshift offensive line for over a month now.

There was hope that would change heading into Utah week.

But head coach Kalani Sitake said it’s still doubtful the Cougars will be back to full strength when his team enters Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday.

Starting center Connor Pay is unlikely to be available. He is dealing with a lower leg injury he suffered at Baylor in September.

In his absence, BYU has opted for Bruce Mitchell to handle the snapping duties. Mitchell hadn’t played center his entire life before starting against Arizona.

Sitake also indicated wide receiver Kody Epps is not likely to be ready. Epps hasn’t seen the field since Baylor either.

This has been Epps’ least productive season since 2021 when he was injured the entire year. He has just eight receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown.
