How to watch BYU at Baylor, where the Cougars will look for their first Big 12 road win

The Cougars could be missing one of the surprise heroes of the win over K-State.

Waco, Texas • Put your hands up if you thought BYU would be sitting at 4-0, ranked No. 22 in the country and with a legitimate chance to go undefeated into its first bye week.

Now, everyone should have their hands by their side — because almost nobody thought the team picked 13th in the conference would be at this point.

Yet, BYU rolls into Waco doing just that.

After stunning No. 13 Kansas State last week — blowing out the Wildcats 38-9 — BYU has a chance to be in the heart of the Big 12 race going into October.

But in order to do so, the Cougars have to do something they’ve never done: win a Big 12 road game.

Baylor is coming off a heartbreaker in Boulder. It gave up a Hail Mary to Colorado and then lost in overtime. Dave Aranda’s team controlled the whole night, and should’ve won, but still sits at 2-2.

Aranda is in a must-win situation this year to keep his job. So an early game at home, against a BYU team still yet to prove its road mettle, presents a prime opportunity. Heck, even the oddsmakers have Baylor favored.

The Cougars will possibly be down several running backs this week. Its top player, LJ Martin, is out and is trying to come back for Arizona in two weeks. And now Sione I Moa, the star against K-State, is hobbled and limited in practice. Offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick said he’d make a decision on Moa Thursday after the final practice.

One last note, backup quarterback Gerry Bohanon is making his return to Waco after winning the league with Baylor in 2021. We explored his complicated legacy on Friday.

A chance at a 5-0 start is on the line. Here is how to watch.
