BYU men’s basketball team will play in the Junkaroo Jam next season in the Bahamas

Provo • The season hasn't even finished yet and BYU's already making plans for the next season.

The Cougars will be one of four teams that will play in the first session of the 2020 Men's Junkanoo Jam on the island of Bimini in the Bahamas, Basketball Travelers, Inc. announced on Wednesday.

BYU will play Boston College, George Mason and Tulsa in a round-robin tournament from Nov. 17-21.

The Hilton at Resorts World Bimini is the official partner of the Junkanoo Jam, and teams and fans staying there will be a 10-minute walk from the Gateway Christian Academy gymnasium where all games will be played.

Bimini is the closest Bahamian island to the United States, located just 50 miles off Florida’s coast. While the island is known as Ernest Hemingway’s favorite escape, the Cougars will look to leave their own imprint. At the start of this season, the Cougars participated in the Maui Invitational — where they finished in third place with a 2-1 record.

Teams participating in the second session of the men’s and women’s tournament field will be announced at a later date. Fans interested in supporting their team in Bimini can purchase fan travel packages now at www.junkanoojam.com.
