Gymnastics invitational featuring Utah, BYU and Utah State, is set for Jan. 9 at the Maverik Center

Utah’s gymnastics team continues to wait for the Pac-12 to announce its schedule and isn’t sure how many fans, if any, will be allowed to attend its home meets, but there will be at least one chance for some lucky fans to see the team in person.

The Maverik Center has announced that a capacity of around 1,700 fans will be allowed to attend the Rio Tinto Best of Utah meet Jan. 9 at the Maverik Center against Utah State, BYU and Utah State. Last year’s event, won by the Utes, drew a crowd of 6,542.

The meet, which is the season opener for the Utes, will be televised on BYUtv at 7 p.m.

To ensure social distancing, seating will be sold in pods fo 1-8 tickets. The presale ticket window begins today at 10 a.m. MT and will run through Dec. 25 until midnight. More information can be found on the University of Utah athletics website.

Following the presale window, the general public sale will go live with regular priced tickets on Saturday, Dec. 26 at 10 a.m. MT for the three pricing tiers of $20, $34 and $40.

Last year Utah drew an average of 15,273 fans for its home meets.
