The University of Utah women’s basketball team defeated Montana State on Friday evening in the Utes’ home opener at the Huntsman Center, pulling away in the fourth quarter for a 73-63 victory.
Kemery Martin came off the bench to lead the Utes (2-1) with 12 points, Andrea Torres and Brynna Maxwell each scored 10, and Lola Pendande added 10.
The game featured 11 lead changes, and the score was tied 51-51 heading into the fourth quarter. The Utes went on a 15-1 run and outscored the Bobcats 22-12 in the final period.
Darian White scored a game-high 21 points for Montana State (1-2).
“I have to give Montana State a lot of credit,” said Utah coach Lynne Roberts. “I thought they competed really well tonight and I have a lot of respect for how they came in here and battled.”
