The Sky View High football team won its second consecutive 4A state championship Saturday with a 39-33 win over Pine View at Dixie State University. Sky View entered the game as the No. 1 seed in the tournament, while Pine View was No. 2.
The game went back and fourth throughout, tied 6-6 after the first quarter and tied 13-13 in the second quarter. But the Bobcats gained some separation with two consecutive touchdowns to give them a 26-13 lead.
The Panthers cut their deficit to 32-27 with about eight minutes remaining in the game. They got to within six later in the quarter, trailing 39-33, and even recovered a Sky View fumble with plenty of time to try tying or winning the game.
But the Bobcats forced the Panthers to fumble in the very next play and recovered the ball, holding on to win the game.
Sky View ended the 2020 season with an undefeated 13-0 record. Pine View finished 12-2.
