The Salt Lake Bees snapped a five game losing streak with a 7-5 win over the host Tacoma Rainiers in a Pacific Coast League game Sunday.
The Bees jumped in front with two runs in the first inning on a solo homer by Matt Thaiss, his 14th of the season, and an RBI single by Kaleb Cowart.
Taylor Ward drew a bases loaded walk in the second for a 3-0 lead, and Cowart added a two-run single in the fourth to extend the lead to 5-0.
After Tacoma scored twice in the fourth, Salt Lake got those runs back in the fifth on a two-run homer by Ryan Scott.
The Rainiers pulled to within two runs and had the bases loaded with two outs in the ninth, but Zac Ryan induced a groundout to end the game and record his first Triple-A save.
Parker Bridwell (4-3) picked up the win, as he went 4 1/3 innings out of the bullpen and allowed four runs on four hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Starter Matt Ball went 3 2/3 innings and gave up one run on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
Cowart led the Bees’ 12-hit attack with four hits and three runs batted in. Thaiss added three hits and one RBI and Scott chipped in with two hits, including a homer, and two runs batted in to extend his hitting streak to seven games.
