Park City joins USL as new League Two soccer team

The United Soccer League, which is a tier lower than Major League Soccer, announced Wednesday that will add a team in Park City for 2019.

The new Park City team will compete in the Mountain Division of League Two, the USL’s lowest tier, which operates in the summer. The USL recently restructured to more closely mirror soccer clubs overseas.

The club’s logo, color scheme and other branding will be announced “at a later date,” per a news release.

"Park City is a very special, aesthetically-inclined city,” team owner Bob Martino said in the release. "The small town produces numerous Winter Olympics athletes and has always been a great soccer city. Top-level soccer players have come from Park City, and we are proud to be part of elevating the soccer experience with the ‘Path2Pro’ philosophy in the community.”

Another Utah-based team, Ogden City SC, also plays in the Mountain Division of League Two.
