The SAVE Act is intended to address a faux crisis of voter fraud. There is however, a very real crisis of American purchased firearms making their way into the hands of the cartels in Mexico. In light of this, surely Republicans can get behind the SAVE Guns Act:
A driver license and REAL ID are not enough to buy a firearm.
A gun must be purchased in person, with original citizenship documents.
If your name is not an exact match on all documents (middle initial, maiden name, etc.) then you cannot purchase a firearm.
No one can apply online, even if your identity has been proven.
If you’ve lost your birth certificate or other required documents, you must pay for legal copies and wait.
If the government removes your eligibility by a clerical error, the purchaser must prove they are entitled to exercise that constitutional right.
If the deadline is missed while fixing the problem, you lose that opportunity until we recertify documents during the next federal election.
