Letter: Utah’s targeting of the vote-by-mail system is the result of Trump’s lies

Vote By Mail | Pat Bagley

This is directly Donald Trump’s fault. “Lots of people wrongly believe that we have mass fraud in our elections, and it’s just not true, but we need to restore trust to them as well,” Gov. Cox, a Republican, said.

Through his lies, Trump fomented doubt in our system of elections so to appease those who refuse to believe documented facts, the Utah Legislature and our governor have decided to return to in-person voting, thereby making voting less accessible to those in the far reaches of our state, to some with disabilities and others with a lack of transportation.

Catering to those who drank the Kool-Aid only reinforces their conviction that mail-in voting is problematic. Why not make it incumbent upon the doubters to learn to rely on the truth?
