Letter: The one-party system is not working for average Utahns. Please, stop surrendering your God-given agency to a man-made organization.

This state belongs to all Utahns, not to the legislators.

Utah is consistently in the bottom two states on spending per pupil on our schools — 20% less per student than Mississippi!

Utahns spoke loudly last election when we told the Legislature that we don’t want them taking the income tax money away from our schools. In the very next legislative session, the Legislature is now trying to take our property taxes that go to our local school districts and spend it any way the Legislature wishes.

The one-party system is not working for us average Utahns. Please, stop surrendering your God-given agency to a man-made organization. If you want the Legislature to listen to us, vote against incumbents, vote for a Democrat if necessary.

If we replace incumbents with the other party just once, even an elephant can be turned around to pay attention to what the people want. Now they arrogantly ignore voter referendums and pass laws to make it increasingly difficult for the people to have a voice.

“We have learned by sad experience that it is the nature and disposition of almost all men, as soon as they get a little authority, as they suppose, they will immediately begin to exercise unrighteous dominion.” (Doctrine and Covenenants 121:39)

Keep your God-given agency and vote thoughtfully.
