Letter: You really think you can arrest your way out of homelessness, Gov. Cox?

Regarding the recent article, “State leaders slam SLC police in letter to Mendenhall, ask city to submit plan to ‘restore public safety.’”

If I’m Mayor Erin Mendenhall, I’m like, “Please! Do step in. Help!”

I would ask Gov. Spencer Cox, et al.: “Where are these folks supposed to go?

The church in Layton which offered to help? “Not in my backyard”! Citizens were up in arms.

The Liberty Wells center in my neighborhood, a huge building with a chain link fence around it? Any number of churches, schools, office buildings etc.? You really think you can arrest your way out of homelessness? Again, where are these folks supposed to go?

Great! You want to get involved? Please do! Let’s see some real support from the state in terms of resources, support, creativity, collaboration.
