Letter: Trump claims he’s a great business man. Let’s take a closer look.

Actually he’s much better at obfuscating his finances than running his businesses! This is what little I gleaned from my research.

1. Trump’s father was very wealthy — so Trump had a lot of financial assistance (loans) to start with.

2. Trump has filed for personal bankruptcy 6 times. He claims just 4! I can’t tell from what I’ve found on the internet. Apparently, the data is so obfuscated that professional auditors can’t tell either.

3. In addition to personal bankruptcy, Trump has led 6 over-leveraged hotel and casino businesses in Atlantic City and New York owned by other people that filed for bankruptcy — while Trump survived unscathed.

4. And let’s not forget his impact on the financial reputation of the U.S.A. Despite saying during the 2016 campaign he would eliminate the national debt in eight years, Trump’s approval of large increases in government spending, plus especially the 2017 tax cut for the rich, increased the federal deficit by almost 50%, to nearly $1 trillion — the largest ever. Trump gave himself a raise for a job well done.
