Letter: Civility gets us nowhere. It’s time for the kumbaya era of the left to end.

My parents and a friend of theirs were discussing a topic that came up in a General Conference talk about civility. They all agreed that’s what the world needs more of, that everyone should have a voice at the table.

I disrespectfully disagree, because civility is why a convicted felon and rapist is at the height of power, again.

We need more hatred. We need to shut down the both-siderism nonsense. One side wants to limit the ability to vote based on outdated concepts of morality. One side wants to deport anyone who doesn’t have the right (read: white) skin color. One side slanders the military and prevents those who have served from getting treated for the damage they received while on active duty.

We need to hate their ideologies and call them out for being anti-democratic. We need to hate that they don’t want women to receive the care they deserve. We need to hate the blatant corruption and cronyism that’s already happening.

Civility gets us nowhere. It’s time for the kumbaya era of the left to end. After all, if there are 10 people at the table and one of them is a Nazi, then you have 10 Nazis at the table.
