Letter: Can Congress hold strong to their oaths to protect the Constitution and block Trump’s fool-hardy nominations?

Here we go again — what could be more perfect?

The president of the United States, a convicted felon himself, making the following appointments: a recently resigned member of Congress who is being investigated for sexual misconduct as Director of the Justice Department; a kook who is anti-health over the Health Department; an anti-American long-time critic of foreign policy as director of National Intelligence; a Fox news radio host over the Pentagon.

The nomination of these sycophants is only for the purpose of gaining control over every aspect of the government so that he (Trump) can do whatever he will with the Constitution and with us (remember us — the citizens?).

Can Congress hold strong to their oaths to protect the Constitution and block these fool-hardy nominations? Or will Trump do an end-run and prevail upon the Senate to vote for a recess of the chamber so that he can make the appointments without congressional approval?

Oh democracy — I knew thee well.

Karen Post, Sandy
