Letter: We now must brace ourselves for the return of four years of chaos, incompetence, fraud and cruelty.

Governor Cox: The elections are over.

You won! (With gerrymandered districts was there ever any doubt?) Your guy in Washington (the one you think is changing for the better) won the White House! What a great day!

Well, for the rest of us, not so much. We now must brace ourselves for the return of four years of chaos, incompetence, fraud and cruelty.

We must worry about the safety of our immigrant friends and neighbors.

We must worry more about women’s health, safety and eroding rights.

We must worry more about the safety and well-being of our LGBTQ friends and family members.

We must worry about more deregulation and the destructive effects on our environment.

We must worry about rising rates of sexism, racism, xenophobia and violence; and the GOP’s indifference to this.

We must worry about the inevitable mishandling of events on the international stage.

I could go on and on; in fact, we should worry about anyone who is not a white, wealthy, heterosexual Christian male.

Great indeed.

History will not look kindly on y’all.

Beth Watson, Cedar City
