Letter: As a child, I watched the spectacle of professional wrestling. It helps me understand American politics.

When I was young my dad would take me to see professional wrestling at the fairgrounds colosseum. Big men with bleached blonde hair and covered in bronzer were seen as outsiders, rule breakers, as heroes. They would give opponents demeaning nicknames and feud with everyone. If you were not a loyal fan you were the enemy.

The other guy always cheated, the match was never fair, the results were never final.

I was amazed that so many people thought their act was real and got caught up in the anger and theater. This experience helps me better understand modern day politics.
