Letter: Is opposition to abortion worth electing a demagogue with plans to destroy the rule of law in America?

Dear Utah voters, is it really worth risking the future of our democracy over your opposition to abortion?

Virtually no one prefers to have an abortion. Putting the child up for adoption is often the preferred option. Each person’s circumstance, however, is different. Suppose your daughter or granddaughter got pregnant by a relative or a person on drugs? Suppose it was a wanted pregnancy where the fetus is severely deformed?

Utahns are kind, caring people. Is this one issue going to have you vote for a demagogue, a con man, someone who wants to get rid of our Constitution, go after his political enemies, fire dedicated civil servants, jail members of the press, and install only loyalists in the Justice Department (as outlined in Project 2025, which was written by the former president’s close associates)? Please see the Wikipedia summary of Project 2025.

This fall’s elections are not just about policies, they are about the survival of the rule of law and our democracy. Please remember that!

Please keep an open mind during this fall’s elections. Watch Kamala Harris’ speeches on YouTube. You will learn, regardless of what you have heard from Republicans and Fox News, that the Democratic Party is the party of democracy, freedom, justice and opportunity!

Be open to local Democratic candidates as well. They are usually the superior candidate.

Remember that Trump will say anything to get elected and stay out of prison. The evidence against him is substantial as found by five separate grand juries of average citizens.

Republican leaders are afraid of him and will say anything to not offend him. One even got his photo taken at a staged photo-op in Arlington National Cemetery. Very sad!
