Letter: Why force users of SLC’s downtown library to pay for parking on weekends?

The City Library is a gem for Salt Lake City.

Why is it the only city public property that charges a parking fee for over two hours on Saturday and Sunday?

While our brothers and sisters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are observing their Sabbath on Sundays, there are many Salt Lake City residents who visit the only public library branch open.

Facing a two hour paid visit and needing to be at the library longer is frustrating, especially if a patron has to pay for that “extra time.”

Why does the Salt Lake City Parking Department penalize patrons of the City Library on the weekends when parking in the entire city is free?
