Letter: Take it from an expert: Kum & Go in Sugar House would create a traffic fiasco

I read that Chris Hogle will only accept input from experts, regarding the Kum & Go proposed station in Sugar House.

I am an expert, having driven in Utah and Idaho for 65 years. I am very familiar with the intersection at 2100 South and 1300 East. The traffic flow for a Kum & Go would be quite different than it was for the Sizzler that was there. Meaning, cars would be entering and exiting more frequently. It is named Kum & Go.

The exit would have to be onto either 2100 South eastbound, or 1300 East northbound.

Anyone who has driven 1300 East north or south knows it is extremely busy during all day-time driving. In fact the northbound traffic is a two-lane drag race to get to the one lane it narrows down to from 2100 South.

Considering the perfectly beautiful view to the east from that lot, wouldn’t it make more sense to have business there that customers might drive in and stay for a while? Maybe even have walking access from Sugar House Park? Do we really want another “Chick-fil-A” traffic fiasco?
