In a recent letter, Josh Carr refers to us as inheritors of this land, and what we’ve inherited is a mess created by the political right’s inability to pass any sort of meaningful climate legislation.
The mindset of inheritance is removed from the idea of being stewards of the land, and makes his letter reek of entitlement.
Furthermore, fear and panic aren’t coming from the left, they’re coming from people like Carr demonizing legislation that addresses the problems instead of pushing them onto the next generation.
The setting of his meeting further illustrates how disconnected the right has become from actual climate science, and I’m certain the irony of hosting this meeting at a shooting range was completely lost on those in attendance (see the article, “Scout camp’s shooting range permeated land with lead,” published May 8, in The Tribune).
