The field of prospective Republican candidates for president is growing daily — though the majority are clearly no-hopers. Some may think that the publicity will help their political prospects for the future — but I think that losing by a mile would have the opposite effect.
Even using one’s own plane, as Donald Trump will, the amount of travel involved to get from one venue to the next can’t be easy. It’s even worse for the no-hopers who have to use crowded public transportation. Today, flights are so crammed (and often delayed) that I’m dreading flying to New York for my daughter’s wedding!
I conclude that there is lots of money to be made by just running. Trump would know, he’s been a grifter all his life:
1. As a new graduate he somehow managed to persuade his college never to release his grades (have you ever heard Trump being modest?).
2. By allegedly “persuading” a podiatrist who rented his office from Trump’s father to declare him unfit for military service because of bone spurs in his foot — which never stopped him playing football in college.
3. His multiple business bankruptcies where, “holy cow,” someone else ended up holding the bag!
4. His platform as he runs for president again! Not a word on policy, just wracking his tiny brain for puerile nicknames for his opponents.
Do you recall Trump’s rating by presidential historians at the end of his first presidency? 44th (out of 44) for moral authority; 43rd for international relations, 42nd for overall performance, and 41st for crisis leadership!
I think this last rating is a mistake — if he wins, he’ll lead the U.S. and the free world into a crisis!
