Letter: Better to have no Seven Canyons Fountain than a dry one

It’s with some regret that I have seen Salt Lake City’s decision to leave the Seven Canyons Fountain in Liberty Park as a dry feature. It’s analogous to removing all the brown tones from the Mona Lisa and arguing that it’s still recognizable.

At present the structure stands only as a reminder of its former beauty, and to those who don’t remember that, simply as an eyesore in the middle of the park attracting the occasional camper.

Better that you demolish it and put in a skate park. At least that would have some public appeal.
