Letter: In the Trump case, the issue is hiding critical information from voters during an election campaign

The downplaying of the criminal charges against Donald Trump is really missing the critical issue. If the voters across America were aware, during the 2016 presidential campaign, that Trump was having an affair with a porn star while his wife was home with a new baby, would they have voted for him? This is why election laws were developed.

I’m not a supporter of Hillary Clinton, but I think that she would have won the 2016 presidential election if voters were aware of Trump’s extramarital affairs with a porn star and a beauty queen.

Hiding a payoff to a porn star is unethical and immoral, but it is not the critical issue. It is paying off a porn star to hide information from America’s voters. If this information had become public, would Hillary Clinton have won the 2016 presidential election? I think she would have, if the public was aware of Trump’s conduct regarding his extramarital affairs.

With this in mind, would Hillary Clinton have supported “white extremists?” Would she have been impeached twice? Would she have encouraged the attack on our nation’s Capitol, and would our nation be as divided as it is today?

The critical issue is the reality that Trump paid off a porn star to hide from America’s voters his immoral and unethical behavior. Paying off a porn star and hiding the payments is not good behavior, but the critical issue is the impact of hiding critical information from voters during an election campaign. The consequences have become obvious.
