Letter: The Midvale mural does not have to be liked by everyone, but it is not pornographic.

I read the article about the “pornographic” mural in Midvale, and the quotes from one woman in particular have me wondering how in the world people like her end up speaking for so many. She has a problem. Her thoughts are toxic.

We should not want kids to grow up thinking that the mere sight of a naked woman, “perceived” or not, is always sexual or pornographic. That is so damaging to girls. And boys, too! You don’t have to like the mural, but it is not pornographic.

A woman’s body isn’t automatically pornographic.

The woman quoted in the article is contributing to the very toxicity she is so worried about.
