Letter: New building codes would positively affect air quality in Utah. They should be approved.

I am writing about my support of the 2021 IECC Building Codes that the Uniform Building Code Commission is holding public hearings on August 10.

Living in Utah, air quality and overall sustainability is top of mind. Most people don’t realize that buildings account for 29% of greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. The 2021 IECC Building Codes are up for review and potential adoption; these newly updated codes are 17% more efficient than the current 2015 codes and would save consumers money immediately and over time.

I am planning to build a house here in the next few years, and I hope these codes are approved and moved forward.
