I have been a registered Republican or independent since I could vote. Never miss an election. I went to our local caucus meeting a couple of weeks ago. For the first time in my life, I was embarrassed to say I was a Republican. What has the party of Lincoln come to? A very well-spoken gentleman running for a delegate seat said something good about Mitt Romney, and he got booed down and had to explain himself. When did we have to defend our opinion so vociferously?
A very outspoken minority runs our party. We spent 30 minutes talking about the stolen election. What a terrible senator Mitt is. (He voted for more Trump policies than Mike Lee.) Disgusting remarks about Tanner Ainge and how he hates women. It stems from him shutting down a meeting when everyone decided the rules did not apply to them and shouted down any discussion.
One of our delegates got up and said she brings her young daughter to every meeting she can. You can see her picture on the news holding her daughter as she yells at the school board. Holding her daughter as she chases them to their cars and harasses them, she gets arrested. She stated she was proud of that and got applause from the caucus.
The voice of this minority group is not my voice. Unfortunately, they all vote and are very active. That is their right as Americans. The rest of us make up, maybe, 10% of the vote. It is time to change that. Stop the extreme madness.
We need discourse, understanding, no name-calling, no bullying, no yelling, no intimidation. It is time. I am tired, and I know many others are as well.
If you are part of the 75% of us who agree, let your voice be heard. We need to be just as loud.
