Letter: GOP has become a party devoid of principles

The current Republican Party should not be confused with the GOP, the Grand Old Party of Abraham Lincoln. Today’s Republican Party values raw power, devoid of heart or soul, over deeply held principles.

Many of the loudest voices among senate Republicans -- Ted Cruz, Lindsay Graham, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, among others -- characterized Trump accurately, and very disparagingly, before he clawed his way to the presidency. As soon as Trump grabbed the reins, Republicans acceded to his need for approvers, not advisers; followers, not team members.

Trump is not a team player and anyone who scrambled to benefit from riding his coattails shed all principles to maintain their position. Sad.
