Letter: Thanks for bringing the newspaper to my porch all these years

FILE - Copies of The Salt Lake Tribune newspaper are shown on April 20, 2016, 2020, in Salt Lake City. The Salt Lake Tribune will stop printing a daily newspaper after nearly 150 years at the end of the year and move to a weekly print edition. The newspaper reported Monday, Oct. 26, 2020, the change won't result in cuts to the newsroom staff, but nearly 160 people involved with printing and delivering the daily paper will be laid off. It’s 0620 hours here in Cache County, and I just personally thanked my Salt Lake Tribune carrier for her 12 years of wonderful service.

Always on the porch, and always early for an old-time dinosaur like me who enjoys a paper as part of the morning ritual that precedes trudging off to work.

But while most of us, like me, will transition to the online version in one form or another, I’d like to suggest to all remaining paper subscribers that we not forget those who have delivered our papers all these years.

My carrier got an extra-large annual and goodbye tip this year, and perhaps you should consider doing so, too.

They’ve been part of our news experience all these years and deserve our thanks.

Thomas Edwards, Logan
