I believe I’m stating the obvious that Trump and elected Republicans are out of reasons to vote for them. Vague positives such as MAGA, freedom, patriotism, etc., ring hollow when the self-titled “party of moral values” supports a man with none, using fear to create desirability.
No?
“Rapists, murderers coming over the border. Jobs disappear by raising the minimum wage. Universal health care — bad. Cut Social Security and Medicare in order to save them.”
Socialism is the “fear du jour,” implanting a fear of poverty, government control of business (unlike here where money controls government), and a demise to what? Nazi Germany?
Robert Paxton, professor emeritus of social science at Columbia University, widely considered the father of fascism studies, of which Nazi Germany was a prime example, described their agenda in this way: “Anti-liberal, anti-socialist, violently exclusionary and expansionist nationalist.” Interesting.
Without gerrymandering, voter suppression, disallowing Mexican immigrants who would overwhelmingly vote Democrat if allowed citizenship, Republicans have zilch!
A local fast-food joint in my town recently closed early due to short staffing. Maybe Norwegians can travel here for the booming hamburger industry. And to vote.
