During mid-April I sent an inquiry to a number of our elected officials. I asked them to give me a reasonable explanation as to why gas prices had increased over $1 per gallon when the world is swimming in oil? I asked them not to tell me it was due to summer blends, refinery maintenance, etc., as I don’t buy those reasons.

I received a response from the office of Gov. Gary Herbert from Kelli Lucero saying they had received my inquiry and someone would reach out. To date I’ve heard nothing more. Sen. Rob Bishop and Rep. Chris Stewart would not accept my inquiry as I was not in their voting district. John Curtis responded, but gave me an answer that was completely unrelated to my request. No response from Rep. Ben McAdams or Sen. Mike Lee. Sen. Mitt Romney’s email kicked back as undeliverable.

Is it a surprise to anyone that people are skeptical about what our politicians do for us? I was dismayed that an elected official could not respond because I wasn’t in their voting district. I guess the others, except for John Curtis, don’t want to respond. Mitt Romney needs to fix his email address. I realize the busy schedule of a politician, but I expected better than this.

Giles Fronce, Sandy
