I’m OK with having some of my hard-earned tax dollars going to help subsidize Orrin Hatch’s grandiose library, provided that it include:
A video clip of him promising to “serve only two terms” when he ran against the distinguished incumbent Frank Moss.
A record of his speeches against equal rights for women.
A video of his Senate committee attacks on Anita Hill and support of Clarence Thomas, the worst Supreme Court justice in our lifetime.
A copy of “The Exorcist” on full display.
A compilation of the millions of dollars he received from the pharmaceutical industry and his votes on issues supporting that industry.
A video of him proclaiming Donald Trump “maybe the best president ever!” and subsequently being awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest honor.
Without such items, the library will be simply a monument to one man’s inflated ego.
I would much prefer my tax dollars go to help the many homeless or struggling citizens among us, or to mitigate the bad air we’re all forced to breathe, or to some other worthy cause.
