When a Republican politician says “win-win-win,” it means he and his rich friends win, and we lose!
Read Robert Gehrke’s Dec. 7 column on $56 million in tax breaks for a billionaire corporation, threatening to move to Tijuana or Ireland if it doesn’t get its way. Wow! Too bad Utahns couldn’t protest the low wages for the jobs remaining that can’t be shipped overseas.
According to the Utah Budget Office, 40 percent of economic transactions today fall under the sales tax. In the 1980s, 70 percent fell under sales tax — meaning people were spending more, because they had more to spend.
Rep. Brad Wilson, R-Kaysville, says the increased Medicaid costs, which we voted for, pose a “worrisome risk for Utah’s fiscal health.”
Anything that would help the poor or sick is worrisome, even though that help would free up some of their money to spend more. Instead, let’s give millions to billionaires, who extort the state and the country by threatening to take their business elsewhere. I believe extortion is against the law.
Let them leave, and don’t let them do business here. We’ll save money.
